Amalfi Coast: how to get there from Naples
The Costiera Amalfitana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Italy's most popular destinations. It is easily reached from Naples by day, perfect as an excursion from your accommodation in the centre.
By train + bus
From Napoli Garibaldi take the Circumvesuviana or regional train to Sorrento (approx. 1 hour, €4.20). From Sorrento, the SITA bus connects all the towns along the coast to Amalfi (€2.80, about 1h30).
By ferry
From Molo Beverello (Naples) ferries leave for Positano and Amalfi with Alilauro and NLG. Duration: about 1h15. Cost: €20-25 each way. Seasonal service (April-October). Scenic and relaxing solution.
By car
A3 motorway to Vietri sul Mare, then the SS163 Amalfitana. Beware: the road is narrow, winding and parking is very difficult (and expensive: €5-8/hour). Not recommended in high season.
With organised tour
Most convenient solution: tour with private driver or bus. We at Happy Boutique can organise a private transfer departing directly from your flat.
What to see on the Amalfi Coast
Positano
The most photographed town on the Amalfi Coast. The coloured houses sloping down to the sea are iconic. Not to be missed: the large beach, the beachwear boutiques, the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Get ready for lots of stairs!
Amalfi
The town that gives its name to the Amalfi Coast. The Duomo di Sant'Andrea with its monumental staircase is the symbol of the town. Also visit the Cloister of Paradise and the ancient paper mills.
Ravello
The 'balcony of the Amalfi Coast', 350m above the sea. Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone offer postcard-perfect gardens and views. In summer, the Ravello Festival brings concerts to unique locations.
Furore
The 'village that isn't there': a hidden fjord with a small bridge and a secret beach. Perfect for those looking for less touristy corners.
